Abyaneh Jame Mosque

Dating 1084, with its special design, the employment of wooden artwork, and the irregular four-porch houses are from the Seljuk period. The date of construction of the main edifice, prayer niche, pulpit, columns and capitals is coincides with the appointment of Esfahan as the capital of the Safavids. The wooden constructions last for centuries because there are no termites in this area. The entrance door of Abyaneh Jame Mosque is unique, made of brown walnut wood with superb wood engraving. The prayer niche and pulpit are also made of walnut wood inlaid with some verses of the holy Koran. Wood is also employed in the ceiling with some designs of regular geometric patterns.
