Hosseiniyeh of Abiyaneh

The buildings named after Imam Hossein became important places of worship during the Safavids. During the ninth (Tassua) and tenth (Ashura) days of Muharram (first month of Islamic calendar), people in mourning bring the Nakhl and Alam (red, green and black flags) on the streets and alleys of the village. Their ceremonies, Nakhlgardani, end up in Hosseiniyeh with a play called Ta'ziyeh which represents the Imam Hossein and his followers in Karbala.
